In NSW, connection work involving service lines between the electricity distribution network and a property’s point of connection falls within the Accredited Service Provider scheme.
A Level 2 Accredited Service Provider, or Level 2 ASP, is accredited to construct or change these service lines and energise new or altered connections. Individual workers must also have the appropriate authorisation from the electricity distributor whose network they are working on.

When Would You Move a Point of Attachment?
Not every point of attachment problem involves a fault. Sometimes the existing position simply no longer suits the property.

5. The Attachment or Service Is Altered
The existing equipment can then be repaired, replaced or moved according to the approved arrangement.
If a private power pole forms part of the project, additional pole and service-line work may also be required.
6. Testing and Reconnection Are Completed
Once the work is complete, the installation is checked and the electrical supply can be reconnected or energised where applicable.
Relevant distributor notifications and documentation are then completed according to the type of work carried out.
How Are Private Power Poles Connected to Point of Attachment Work?
Private power poles and points of attachment are often closely related.
Instead of an overhead service travelling directly from a street network pole to the house, some properties use a private pole as part of the connection arrangement.
That can be useful where the building is set further back from the street or where the site’s electrical layout requires another suitable connection arrangement.

A straightforward repair is different from changing the route or configuration of the electricity supply. Where the job alters the service line or connection arrangement, distributor requirements may apply.
